Vitamins That Improve Everyday Health

We all seem to be looking for new ways to stay healthy and improve our health. Whether it’s a new diet fad, a new workout regime, a new supplement or who knows what else, we all want the new secret to living happier, healthier and longer.

Unfortunately, we can’t give you a magic potion or some secret hack to help you. Still, a common question is what vitamins will improve my everyday health? Firstly, all vitamins have a purpose, and you should aim to get your vitamins from a healthy and varied diet. If you have any specific questions or are worried you may have a deficiency, consult your doctor.

That being said, we wanted to try and help answer the question. After some thinking, we thought that the best way to recommend vitamins to improve your health is by picking those that support your immune system and have antioxidant properties. So, here are three vitamins we suggest:

Vitamin C

The one you likely hear brought up the most is vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant known to aid the function of the immune system. This hard worker also contributes to over 300 metabolic processes and helps to keep skin, blood vessels, bones, and cartilage maintained. Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid and cannot be stored in the body. Food sources include citrus fruits, blackcurrants, strawberries, broccoli, and potatoes.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a group of compounds that contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. You can find vitamin E in nuts and seeds, wheatgerm (found in cereals and cereal products) and plant oils.

Vitamin D

Sometimes referred to as cholecalciferol, vitamin D supports the normal function of the immune system. It also contributes to keeping bones and teeth healthy and encourages normal muscle function. The best source of vitamin D is exposure to sunlight, which may be difficult in winter. Food sources include oily fish, fortified foods, egg yolks, liver and red meat.
