How to Avoid the Winter Flu

Winter is well and truly here and with that comes an increased likelihood of illness. Experts suggest it could be the worst flu season for years.

So, how can you stay healthy this Winter?

Wrap up warm

It’s important to stay protected against a drop in temperature as cold weather can affect your body’s ability to fight off viruses and infections. Make sure your house is well-heated and whenever you go out, wear plenty of layers. Also, remember to always have an umbrella on hand (we all know what this British weather can be like!)

Take your vitamins

Vitamins are so important during Winter as our body will not be getting the same levels of nutrients as it does in Summer.

For maximum absorption, choose supplements with liposomal technology, such as our products at Nutrivitality, as they offer maximum absorption of vitamins and nutrients when compared to regular tablets.

Wash and sanitise your hands often

A lot of us become ill through coming into contact with airborn bacteria. This bacteria can settle onto surfaces and can easily be passed into our system through the mouth, nose or eyes. To reduce your chances of contracting an illness, make sure you wash your hands before each meal and try not to touch any areas of your face. Public transport can be one of the most common areas for bacteria, so take a bottle of hand sanitiser with you wherever you go.

Get a flu jab

A flu vaccine can reduce the risk of flu illness by 50 to 60 percent, and is available free on the NHS to those with particular circumstances. If you’re aged 65 or over, are pregnant, or have a weakened immune system, you should be eligible and should contact your local GP.

However, you can pay for the flu jab from a selection of pharmancies.
